Which material lasts the longest?

Granite is the most hard-wearing material commonly used for memorials and a wipe over with a damp cloth being extra careful around any engraving.

Marble, sandstone and limestone, being more porous material, are known to attract lichen, moss and are more likely to stain making them more difficult to clean.
